During the Japanese Occupation (1942-1945), the wall was completely torn down to provide material to extend Kai Tak Airport. In 1987, the government decided to demolish and replace the Walled City by a park.日治期間（1942至1945年），城牆被完全拆毀，作擴建啟德機場的建築材料。1987年政府宣布清拆寨城，於原址興建公園。
