Outside Christian circles, not many people are aware that Hong Kong is one of the first in the world to ordain a woman protestant pastor. Even so, for hundreds of years, Chinese Christian churches in Hong Kong have remained true to tradition: Men rule and women nurture the flock. Now, as more and more women give up their careers to serve the church, some women pastors and feminist religious scholars say the time has come for churches to banish sexual discrimination and truly embrace gender equality.
