Signal Hill was also called Blackhead Point. The signal tower was built in 1907. In those days there was a copper “time-ball“ apparatus. At one o’clock afternoon, the ball fell slowly along the mast. Ships in the harbour used to monitor the time from this signal. In 1933, radio was introduced to replace the old means.訊號山俗稱「大包米」，上面的訊號塔是於1907年興建。舊日塔頂上有銅製的「報時球」，每天下午一時即由塔頂的桅杆徐徐降下，港口上的船隻便是以此訊號核對時間的。及至1933年才被無線電報時取代。
