Police and protesters ; Debating Liu Xiaobo ; Does Hong Kong need more Confucius?

Following up on last Saturday's arrest of Christina Chan, we look at the deteriorating relationship between police and protesters, and whether police are fully respecting the legal and human rights of political and social activists. We also look at this week's Legco motion calling on the mainland to release Liu Xiaobo, a motion that was delayed for seven minutes because pro-government lawmakers refused to even sit in the chamber. And this week the DAB tabled a motion asking the government not only to introduce a Confucius public holiday, but also to promote the ancient sage more. Today Confucius is all the rage in Chinese political circles. Thirty years ago, Mao's Red Guards were doing eveything they could to wipe out his memory because he upheld an authoritarian and corrupt social order.
