This is a northeast view of the Peak, 1800 feet high, taken from the Harbour master’s Flagstaff, showing Caine’s House, late the residence of Governor Sir John F. Davis. Below is a Chinese bungalow, the first solid building erected on Hong Kong as a European residence in 1841, by the present Lieut. - Governor, Col. Caine; to the right, on the slope of the hill, the Magistracy and Prison compound.
