霎東街車廠一直沿用至1989年，然後正式搬往西灣河及屈地街。車廠拆卸後，原址即興建為現時的時代廣場。Sharp Street Depot was closed in 1989 and its services were divided between two new depots, the Sai Wan Ho depot and the Whitty Street depot. The old Sharp Street tram depot was decommissioned in 1988, and the Times Square commercial complex was constructed on its site.
