Queen’s Road East, Wan Chai

On the right is Hung Shing Temple, also known as Tai Wong Temple. Originally the Temple stood on the waterfront, but after the reclamation, houses were built in front of it. The street appears deserted, with only a few passers-by and a Sikh policeman. The costumes of those standing under the balcony provide a clue to the way the Chinese lived in early Hong Kong.
