Happy Valley Racecourse 跑馬地馬場

View from the north of the Racecourse at Happy Valley. The monument in the left-hand foreground bears the following inscription: “This monument was erected by Capt. Charles Talbot, the officers and crew of H.M.S. Vestal to the sacred memory of their daparted shipmates. March, 1847.“ The monument was a well-known landmark for many years when it stood at the junction of Queen’s Road East and Leighton Road. It was removed in the 1950s to the Hong Kong Cemetery.從跑馬地馬場北面遠眺。圖片左前方的紀念碑,刻有以下文字(原文為英文):“此紀念碑是英國海軍艦隊Vestal的Talbot艦長及船員建立的,以紀念他們去世的同船水手。1847年3月”這紀念碑原本位於皇后大道東及禮頓道交界,是有名的地標。1950年代,紀念碑被遷移到香港墳場。
