On the site of the present Bank of China Tower previously stood the Murray House. It was built in 1846 as officers’ quarters of the Murray Barracks (now the Citibank Tower). The Murray House was dismantled in the early 1980s and was rebuilt at the seafront promenade at Stanley.今日中銀大廈所在地為美利樓舊址。美利樓於1846年興建，當時用作美利兵房軍官宿舍（美利兵房即今日花旗銀行大廈一帶），其後於1980年代初被拆卸，並已於赤柱海旁重建。
