John R. Morrison, eldest son of eminent priest Rev. Robert Morrison, was the first Chinese Secretary in the Hong Kong Government.街名是因紀念第一位來華傳教士馬禮信牧師的長子馬儒翰（John R. Morrison）而得名。馬儒翰精通漢文，是第一任港督的中文秘書，又是兩局議員。
