Chuk Lam Sim Yuen, Tsuen Wan

Chuk Lam Sim Yuen is situated on a hill in Fu Yung Shan. Its construction was initiated by an aged monk known as Yon Chau. He recalled that during the course of meditation and fast, the God of Earth thrice ordered him to construct a monastery on the auspicious land he had seen in his dreams. Leading his followers, he searched for this piece of land across the territory. At last, they came to a green patch of land known for its full-blown blossoms of wild cotton rose hibiscus (Fu Yung) and decided to start building the monastery there. Thanks to the wide support of worshippers, the construction of the pagoda, the main hall and the two rows of meditation rooms was finally completed in 1932. In 1975, the temple door, the Heavenly Guardians’ Hall and the Great Buddha’s Hall were also under construction. Seven years later, in 1982, the entire monastery was completed.
