Tenement terror

The fatal collapse of a decades old residential block in Ma Tau Wai Road last week reverberated through the city, prompting a territory wide inspection of buildings of more than fifty year old, and instilling fear in their occupiers. Is that fear justified? How many more old buildings are on the verge falling down? How rampant are instances of illegal renovations that doom structures? Is the government, as usual, doing too little, too late?
