Miss Hong Kong 1967 Laura da Costa Roque 1967年香港小姐羅娜

The annual Miss Hong Kong pageant dates back to 1951. Seen posing in the popular tourist harbour on a sampan in Aberdeen is Laura da Costa Roque, Miss Hong Kong of 1967. Laura donned the crown in a particularly difficult year. The Cultural Revolution in China was causing havoc and the left-wing press in Hong Kong condemned as decadent young women parading in public in swimsuits. "Living in a British colony and growing up as a Eurasian, the question of whether to flee elsewhere or to stay put was always with me in those troubled times", said Laura reflecting back on those heady days when she was the envy and the role model for young girls aspiring to her title.
