Wearing white sleeve bands a warden directs traffic at the junction of Des Voeux Road Central and Jubilee Street in the 1950s. Des Voeux Road was named after the tenth Hong Kong Governor, Sir William Voeux who served the colony from 1887-1891. Jubilee Street commemorates the 50-year reign of Queen Victoria in 1887.
