Hung with punkahs to circulate the air on hot, humid Sundays, the interior of the Cathedral was draped with flags and banners to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of Queen Victoria's ascent to the throne. The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria was celebrated on 22 June 1897.
