As the years rolled along, more cars are in evidence along Queen's Road Central, though the rickshaws and the sedan chairs have now departed the scene. The opportunity for advertising on shop fronts was not lost on the storekeepers, turning the colony's streets into a bewildering forest of signage that was replaced by neon after the Second World War.
