Michael Tien : low income, high property prices
In this programme, the free market believer Michael Tien will work as a street sweeper who earns HK$25 per hour. He has to work 9 hours of an undesirable job for 3 days, but has only HK$50 to spend a day, which is only just enough for a meal that fills. By night, he has to stay in a 15 sq. ft. 'luxurious' cage house, which is virtually a 'box' more expensive by the sq. ft. than truly luxurious housing, but where he couldn't even fully extend himself lying down. After this experience, what has Michael Tien got to say about wage levels and housing prices under the free market mechanism?
