For his return visit in 1997 Prince Charles made his headquarters aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, which sailed into Victoria Harbour on 23 June to berth alongside HMS Tamar. The Royal Yacht served Queen and country for 44 years. This voyage was to be her last before returning to Britain to be decommissioned.
