Electric pylons 供電吊架

Replacing gas with electricity on which the urban area had primarily depended, electric power was introduced into Hong Kong in December 1890. To commence with, fifty streetlights were installed and switched on along Queen's Road Central, Battery Path and Upper Albert Road. The appearance in the colony of its first electric pylons followed soon after as witnessed in this turn of the last century photograph.
