Sir Henry May statue 梅含理爵士銅像

The Governor, Sir Reginald Stubbs, unveiled a rather ponderous bronze likeness of Sir Henry May, by the Australian sculptor Sir Bertram Mackennal, on 3 May 1923. Despite May's many sterling qualities as an administrator and the 'wonderful progress' of the colony during his governorship, the public subscription for his statue did not reach the HK$25,000 required, so Paul Chater chipped in a substantial donation that made the memorial possible.
