Astor House Hotel, Central 中環丫士打酒店

On Queen's Road stood the arched facade of the Astor Hotel, which was to have a somewhat confused and chequered history. In the 1890s it was the Connaught House, site of the Windsor Hotel, then it reverted to Astor House, only to become the Connaught Hotel. Wary overseas visitors were assured of flushwater toilets, fans in summer and fires in winter. In 1928, it was renamed the St Francis Hotel.
