In recent years, the number of patients waiting for organ transplants has increased. In fact, even if citizens have registered their willingness to donate organs, family members still have the right to make the final decision, resulting in few successful matches each year. There are suggestions to change the current 'voluntary donation' mechanism to a 'presumed consent donation' (opt-out) system. Is this mechanism suitable for implementation in Hong Kong?
