Beaconsfield Arcade, Central 中環柏拱行
Constructed on a prime site below Government Hill, Beaconsfield Arcade represented a new departure in commercial architecture in the colony. An elegant building reflecting the gentle curve of Queen's Road, it provided ten retail outlets at ground level facing Queen's Road with an arcade covering the footpath to shelter pedestrians from sun and rain. A decorative marble fountain shaded and guarded by four stone lions occupied the forecourt.
