The Former Marine Police Headquarters Compound is a declared monument since 1994, it opened the way for the first attempt by the Tourism Commission to engage the private sector in the preservation of antiquities, by revamping them into tourist attractions. The outcome of this experiment, launched in 2009 as 1881 Heritage.
