Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders 亞皆及修打蘭高地兵團
The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders as they appeared on parade in 1917. The pioneers - with axes - were the only men in the British army allowed to wear beards. The military was a remarkably visible presence in Hong Kong's formative years, as if their numbers were intended to reassure colonial residents - already very much in the minority in the fast growing population - that their interests and safety would be adequately protected.
