Arch bridge 拱橋

Elegant, curved arched bridges -this example in rural Fujian Province - were gracefully constructed primarily of granite. Arch bridges work by transferring the weight of the bridge and its loads partially into a horizontal thrust restrained by the abutments at either end. A viaduct (a long bridge) for transporting water is produced from a series of arches.
