Governor Sir Henry Pottinger 港督砵甸乍爵士
Sir Henry Pottinger reached Macao on 10 August 1841, with the dual title of British Plenipotentiary and Superintendent of the China trade. The Plenipotentiary made him putative ambassador responsible to the Foreign Office; the Superintendent was de facto Governor of Hong Kong as well as supervisor of British trading activities in China.
