The Kau Sai Chau Public Golf Course operated by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, which converted the entire island into this sporting facility. The 18-hole course was opened in 1995 and is the only public golf course in Hong Kong. Before the course was constructed the island housed a small fishing hamlet, home to some 10 families.
