「商業電台廣播劇」特藏載有17齣由香港商業廣播有限公司（商業電台）製作的廣播劇（當時稱為「戲劇化小說」），包括「民間奇案」、「今古奇談」、「倫理小說」和「文藝小說」等10個系列，以及6套由舞台劇社為電台改編演出的「舞台劇欣賞」，在1966至1976年間在商業電台的粵語廣播頻道播放。「戲劇化小說」在1960至70年代曾是電台最主要的節目類型，這批聲帶是商業電台現存僅有的「戲劇化小說」完整檔案。復修過程先由香港中文大學新聞及傳播學院將聲帶由磁帶轉為電腦制式，混音師隨後進行降噪、調音及製造立體聲效果，最後以10dBFS重新灌錄、24bit、48hz的檔案格式輸出。聲帶由商業電台捐贈，項目由衞奕信勳爵文物信託的贊助、黃培烽博士整理及復修。這個特藏除記錄電台廣播歷史，以饗聽眾，並冀望推廣廣播劇的創作及研究。
The “Radio Drama of Commercial Radio Hong Kong” carries 17 episodes of radio dramas (called "dramatized fiction" at the time) produced by the Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Co. Ltd. (Commercial Radio). They are excerpts from 10 serials including Folktale Mysteries, Ancient and Modern Eccentric Tales, Moral Fiction and Literary Fiction as well as from 6 sets of Stage Play Appreciation adapted for radio by drama clubs and aired on Commercial Radio's Cantonese channel during the period 1966-1976. Dramatized fiction had been the major program type on radio in the 1960s through the 1970s and those soundtracks are at present the only existing complete set kept by Commercial Radio. Restoration work was first carried out by the School of Journalism and Communication, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, where the soundtracks were transformed from magnetic tape to the computer format followed by noise reduction, tuning, and stereo effect production done by audio mixer and finally remastered at 10dBFS to get a 24bit, 48hz file format output. The soundtracks are donated by Commercial Radio. The project is sponsored by the Lord Wilson Heritage Trust with the organization and restoration works of soundtracks taken up by Dr. WONG Pui Fung. This collection not only marks the broadcast history of Commercial Radio but it also serves to entertain listeners from all walks of life. It remains our wish that more radio dramas will be initiated and more research works on them are produced in the future.
